She said YES!

Kirsti and Michael are now officially engaged - he couldn't make her wait any longer. He had a ring and he needed to use it! Congratulations to you both x

Here are some pics that I took of their ring...

Ring to help you see further...

I made this Silver ring this week for Mark, it's my Telescope ring - not that you can see very far through it...

Kirsti & Micheal's Engagement Ring

The last couple of weeks I have been working on Kirsti and Michael's engagement ring. They saw a ring they liked and sent me a picture. I sourced a princess cut diamond for them and did some design drawings to give them a few more ideas. Once they had chosen the final design I carved it in wax. The model was then approved by Kirsti and I sent it off to be cast in platinum.
When a ring comes back from the casters it is still in quite a rough form and has to be filed, sanded and polished before it starts to look good. Platinum is a very hard metal and takes a lot of work to get it to the high polish that we all love it for. It was then sent to the assay office for hallmarking (this is to assure the customer that the correct standard or purity of metal has been used) and on it's return the stone was set.
So now the ring is ready to go to it's new home 'up north', Kirsti is eagerly awaiting it's arrival, although I hear that Micheal is going to make Kirsti wait before she can officially have the ring.
Once it's on the finger, I'll post a picture.

Rachel Wedding Ring

I've been working on Rachels wedding ring, She has chosen quite a tricky shape to make. But I like a challenge and have come up with something I am really pleased with. I'm going to post the wax to her for a viewing and see what she thinks.
It's very satisfying when you make something that challenges you, last month I carved a skull and cross bones ring and was pleasantly surprised with the outcome! Unfortunatley I made it for a company up in Scotland so I'm not able to post a picture of it on the site.

All Things Bright and Antipodean

I'm back from my weekend at the Emigrate show, I had quite a busy time handing out lots of business cards. Amongst the items items I sold were a 'Kiwi' Necklace, an 'Australia' Necklace, 'Boomerang' bracelet and a Kangaroo charm pendant! I'm glad I made a few items tailored for the occasion.

Yesterday, I carved Martins wedding ring out of wax, I will post it to him so he can see what it will be like before it is cast. Also, Kirsti's ring came back from the casters ready to be finished, polished and set. It should be finished by the end of next week - I'm looking forward to seeing it all done.

Today I sized down Rachel's engagement ring, so that it will be the right size to make her fit-in wedding ring.
